We may earn a commission from some links. It doesn’t affect our rankings.
Short answer

Reports cost $49 for up to 100 transactions, $99 for up to 1,000, from $199 for 3,000+ and $499 for 10,000+, as a one-time purchase per tax year. Who each tier suits, based on published limits
These follow from the transaction limits on the pricing page, not from testing.
- Portfolio Tracking (USD 0): anyone who wants to import wallets and exchanges and see gains before paying. It doesn’t produce tax forms.
- Hobbyist (USD 49): up to 100 taxable transactions in the year, for example a few buys, sells and conversions of crypto income.
- Investor (USD 99): up to 1,000 transactions, such as regular trading or frequent DeFi swaps.
- Pro (from USD 199): more than 1,000 transactions; above 3,000, extra transactions are bought in the app.
- Unlimited (USD 499, per the help centre): 10,000 or more transactions, such as high-frequency trading or heavy on-chain activity.
What’s free, and what isn’t
The free tier lets you connect wallets and exchanges, import your history and see your gains and losses. You pay when you want the tax forms. So the free tier is a way to see your transaction count and gains before choosing a tier. It isn’t a way to file for free.
How the tiers work
- One purchase per tax year. Filing three years means three reports. Each is priced by that year’s transaction count.
- Upgrades. If you import more later and exceed your tier, you pay the difference to move up.
- Older years. The help centre lists 15% off reports for 2018 and earlier.
- Self-transfers don’t count, and up to $25 of staking and interest micro-transactions is deducted from the count.
What it costs at different volumes
- A creator paid monthly in USDC who converts each payment and makes a few swaps: about 50 transactions, so $49.
- An active trader with 600 transactions in the year: $99.
- Catching up 2023, 2024 and 2025 at about 100 transactions each: 3 × $49 = $147.
Refunds
The pricing page advertises a 14-day refund policy. The refund policy sets three conditions, all of which must be met: the request is within 14 days of purchase, no tax report has been downloaded, and support verifies a bug or product limitation that prevents an accurate report. It doesn’t refund for change of mind or for trouble importing into tax software, unless support finds the export file is corrupt.
Who it fits, based on published features and pricing
This is a reading of CoinLedger’s published plans and prices, not a tested recommendation. It hasn’t been tested hands-on for this page.
- Its published pricing fits US filers with up to about 1,000 transactions a year who prefer a one-time payment per tax year and want exports to common US tax software.
- Compare first if you file several past years at once (see CoinLedger vs CoinTracker) or want a refund that doesn’t depend on a software fault (see CoinLedger vs Koinly).

What this page doesn’t cover
It doesn’t judge import accuracy or support quality, which need hands-on use. It is general information, not tax advice. For all three main tools side by side, see crypto tax software costs.
Frequently asked questions
Is CoinLedger free?
Partly. Portfolio tracking is $0 on the pricing page, with unlimited wallet and exchange syncs, and you can import transactions and see your gains without a card. Downloading a tax report needs a paid tier, from $49.
How much does CoinLedger cost?
Hobbyist $49 (up to 100 transactions), Investor $99 (up to 1,000) and Pro from $199 (3,000+), each a one-time purchase per tax year. Above 3,000 you buy extra transactions in the app; the help centre lists an Unlimited tier at $499 for 10,000+.
How much does CoinLedger cost per year?
It depends on that year's transaction count: $49 up to 100, $99 up to 1,000, from $199 for 3,000+ and $499 for 10,000+. You pay once per tax year you file, so two years at about 100 transactions each cost $98.
Is CoinLedger a subscription?
No. The pricing page describes each report as a one-time purchase, available for tax years 2010 to 2025. You can regenerate the report free as long as you stay within your tier.
What counts as a transaction?
CoinLedger's help centre counts buys, sells, trades, fees, income and transfers, but not non-taxable transfers between your own wallets, and it deducts up to $25 worth of staking and interest micro-transactions.
Can I get a refund?
Only if all three conditions in its refund policy are met: you ask within 14 days of purchase, you haven't downloaded any tax report, and support verifies a bug or product limitation that stops you getting an accurate report. No refunds for change of mind.
Is CoinLedger free for accountants?
Yes. Its pricing help article says the platform is free for tax professionals; reports are paid for per client tax year.
Does the price change at checkout?
When checked, CoinLedger's help centre showed Hobbyist at $49.99 at checkout while the pricing page showed $49, so confirm the final amount before paying.
