CoinLedger UK: HMRC Reports, Share Pooling and Prices

We may earn a commission from some links. It doesn’t affect our rankings.

Short answer

CoinLedger says it supports the UK. Its help centre lists Shared Pool as the UK calculation method, and it lists an HMRC Capital Gains Summary among its tax forms. Prices are published in USD: free tracking, then $49 for 100 transactions, $99 for 1,000 and from $199 for 3,000+, each per tax year. HMRC wants gains reported in pounds sterling, so set GBP in Tax Settings.

What CoinLedger publishes for UK users

  • Calculation method: Shared Pool for the United Kingdom. You choose it in Tax Settings, for all years or per tax year.
  • Forms: a UK HMRC Capital Gains Summary, plus a capital gains summary, income summary and audit trail.
  • Currency: reports “in any currency”, so set GBP.
  • Free preview: import and preview your gains before paying.

Prices (USD, per tax year)

Free USD 0 Tracking and preview, no download
Hobbyist USD 49 Up to 100
Investor USD 99 Up to 1,000
Pro From USD 199 3,000+
Unlimited (help centre) USD 499 10,000+

CoinLedger doesn’t publish GBP prices. Each report covers one UK tax year (6 April to 5 April), so a two-year catch-up means two purchases.

UK rules the report has to follow

  • Disposals include selling, swapping one token for another, spending crypto and gifting it, except to a spouse, civil partner or charity (GOV.UK).
  • Matching order (HMRC manual CRYPTO22200): same-day acquisitions first, then acquisitions within the next 30 days, then the section 104 pool.
  • Allowance and rates: £3,000 tax-free. Above that, 18% or 24% on gains from 6 April 2026.
  • Reporting: in pounds sterling, in the cryptoasset section of Self Assessment (from 2024 to 2025), or through the real-time CGT service.
  • Records: HMRC asks for a record of each pool’s cost before and after each disposal. Exchange reports alone “will not keep track of your pooled costs”.

When you preview your report, check that a repurchase within 30 days of a sale is matched to that sale and not to the pool.

Who it fits, based on published features and pricing

This is a reading of published features and prices, not a tested recommendation. CoinLedger wasn’t tested hands-on for this page.

  • Fits UK filers with up to about 1,000 transactions a year who want a one-time payment per tax year and an HMRC-labelled summary.
  • Check first if you need GBP pricing, a multi-year catch-up, or confirmation of same-day and 30-day matching.

Frequently asked questions

Does CoinLedger support HMRC rules?

Its help centre lists Shared Pool as the country-specific method for the United Kingdom, set under Tax Settings. HMRC's Cryptoassets Manual also applies a same-day rule and a 30-day rule before the pool. CoinLedger's article doesn't mention those two rules by name, so check the matching in your preview.

What UK report does CoinLedger produce?

Its tax report page lists a 'UK HMRC Capital Gains Summary' among country-specific forms, plus an income summary and an audit trail.

How much is CoinLedger in pounds?

The pricing page lists USD only: $49 (100 transactions), $99 (1,000) and from $199 (3,000+) per tax year. Check the currency and total at checkout, as card conversion fees may apply.

What is the UK Capital Gains Tax allowance?

GOV.UK lists a £3,000 tax-free allowance (the Annual Exempt Amount). Gains above it are taxed at 18% or 24% for gains from 6 April 2026, depending on your Income Tax band.

Do I need to report crypto if I'm under the allowance?

GOV.UK says you must report and pay if your total gains for the tax year (6 April to 5 April) are above the allowance. Other reporting conditions can apply, so check GOV.UK or a tax adviser.

Can I get a refund?

CoinLedger's refund policy allows 14 days, only for a software limitation verified by support and before any report is downloaded.
