Pro costs $90 more a month, and its fee is 7.1 percentage points lower. So Pro costs less once 7.1% of your monthly sales is more than $90, which is roughly $1,268 a month in sales. At $30 a month per member, that is 43 paying members. At $50, it is 26. The 30¢ fixed fee is the same on both plans, so it doesn’t change the break-even.

What Skool’s fees cost at real revenue

Example: 100 members paying $30 a month ($3,000 in sales).

  • Hobby: $9 + 100 × ($3.00 + $0.30) = $339 in costs, you keep $2,661.
  • Pro: $99 + 100 × ($0.87 + $0.30) = $216 in costs, you keep $2,784.

These figures leave out Growth Boost, refunds and any tax you owe. If Skool’s search or ads bring in some of those members, 30% of their payments goes to Skool on top.

What Hobby and Pro include

Skool’s pricing page lists unlimited members, unlimited courses, unlimited videos and unlimited live calls on both plans. Pro adds a custom URL and the affiliates feature, and has the lower transaction fee (Skool pricing, checked 21 Oct 2026).

Skool’s features page describes the rest of the product: a community feed, a classroom for courses, a calendar for events with reminder emails, gamification with points and levels, one-click email broadcasts of a post to all members (no segmenting or tags), chat and metrics (Skool features).

Costs that are easy to miss

  • Growth Boost. If 20% of your revenue comes from members Skool brought in, 30% of that adds 6 percentage points to your total cost.
  • The 3.9% tier is set per payment. A single payment above $900 pays 3.9% + 30¢. Skool’s own example: $999 on Pro pays out $959.74.
  • No choice of processor. All payments run through Skool’s merchant account. If you want your own Stripe, PayPal or Razorpay checkout, see Skool vs Systeme.io.

Which plan fits, based on the published pricing

This is arithmetic on Skool’s published prices, not a tested recommendation.

  • Hobby fits communities under about $1,268 a month in sales, and free communities that only need the $9 plan.
  • Pro fits communities above that line, and anyone who needs a custom URL or the affiliates feature, which Skool lists on Pro only.
