Teachable does not publish a separate India price list. There is no free plan; the pricing page lists a 7-day free trial and a 30-day money-back period. A Custom tier is sold through Teachable’s sales team. See Teachable pricing for the full fee breakdown used in the calculator.

Payments for an India-based school

Two Teachable payment products matter, and they are not the same:

  • Teachable Pay. The help article lists India among eligible school countries. Setup is in Settings → Payments, and payouts can be daily, weekly or monthly. Processing rates are the same on every plan: US card 2.9% + USD 0.30, international card 3.9% + USD 0.30, US PayPal 3.49% + USD 0.49, international PayPal 4.99% + USD 0.49, buy now pay later 6.99% + USD 0.30. Some non-USD transactions add a 0.95% currency conversion fee. New schools can face a reserve of up to 100% for 14 days; the standard reserve is 10%, released after 45 days.
  • Teachable Payments (the newer Stripe-powered experience). The fees-and-bundles article publishes base processing tables by school country. India is not in those tables. A school outside those countries uses the gateway Teachable offers for its country (Teachable Pay where eligible, otherwise the Monthly Payment Gateway).

Confirm what your school sees under Settings → Payments. These lists change; this page reports what the public help articles showed on 28 Oct 2026.

Fees that stack

On every sale:

  1. Teachable transaction fee: 7.5% on Starter, on the total including taxes; 0% on Builder and Growth.
  2. Processing: charged by the gateway in use. Teachable Pay lists a US card rate (2.9% + USD 0.30) and an international card rate (3.9% + USD 0.30); it doesn’t spell out which applies to an India-based school, so the example below uses the higher one.
  3. Optional BackOffice: handles author payouts, tax form collection and PayPal checkout. The Teachable Pay article lists a standard BackOffice fee of 2.8% when it’s on; the pricing page shows a 2% to 2.8% range.
  4. Currency conversion: 0.95% on some non-USD transactions.

The Custom Payment Gateway 2% integration fee applies to US schools only, per Teachable.

Example: a USD 100 course sold to a US buyer

An India-based school on Teachable Pay, BackOffice off, buyer pays by card in USD, using the international card rate:

  • Starter: 7.5% (USD 7.50) + 3.9% + USD 0.30 (USD 4.20) = USD 11.70 in fees. You keep USD 88.30.
  • Builder: 0% + USD 4.20 = USD 4.20 in fees. You keep USD 95.80.

At these rates the 7.5% Starter fee costs more than the USD 40 gap to Builder (annual billing) once sales pass about USD 533 a month.

Who it fits, based on published features and pricing

This is a reading of Teachable’s published pages, not a tested recommendation.

It fits Indian course creators who are comfortable paying the plan in USD, who can complete Teachable Pay setup from India, and who want a dedicated course school with up to 50 products on Growth.

What this page doesn’t cover

It doesn’t cover Indian GST registration, income tax, or foreign-exchange rules on paying for foreign software. That is not tax or legal advice. Confirm live gateway eligibility inside your Teachable school.
